Comfort

Comfort gives the Rested status if you stand in a location with no threats nearby, items providing comfort, warmth and you are Sheltered. Each level of comfort adds one minute to how long your character will be rested while adventuring. The skill Well Rested adds +5 minutes and some Armor also adds a few seconds.

The Rested status provides significantly increased Stamina and Stamina Regeneration. From the survival-game aspect: if you are tired then your endurance is much less and can't sprint, dodge, glide, mine, chop trees as long or often, giving a disadvantage in combat and all activities. Resting is necessary to be fit and resting in a comfortable home is more revitalizing.
